In this role, you will lead the mechanical design effort across complex automation programs and play a key role in shaping our growing engineering team, working for automotive, aerospace, energy and various other industries.

Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the design, development, and execution of custom automation equipment for production manufacturing. This role combines hands-on design with technical leadership, ensuring high-quality deliverables, adherence to standards, and successful project execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities across multiple automation projects
• Oversee concepts for custom mechanical equipment for manufacturing applications
• If required, Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings for:
  • Geo-fixtures and weld tooling
  • Robotic end-of-arm tooling (EOAT)
  • Part locating and holding fixtures
  • Custom automation tooling
• Responsible for change control documentation
• Collaborate with controls engineers, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure design feasibility and integration
• Review and approve drawings, BOMs, and design packages
• Mentor and support mechanical designers and junior engineers
• Interface directly with customers during design reviews and technical discussions
• Support build, debug, and launch activities, including design revisions as needed
• Ensure designs meet applicable OEM standards
• Oversee and Manage and Validate Load and Stress Analysis, including FEAs, FDS
• Ability to quickly Hand Sketch a tool or a Kinematics for review with peers and customers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics or related field
• 7–12+ years of experience in mechanical design within automation or tooling environments
• Strong 3D modeling skills with the ability to design custom tools and equipment from concept through detailed design
• Proficiency in one or more CAD platforms:
  • CATIA, NX, Inventor (preferred), Solidworks, AutoCAD
  • Experience with FIDES is an asset
• Deep understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, weldments)
• Strong knowledge of tolerance stack-ups and GD&T
• Strong knowledge of electric/pneumatic controls components
• Proven ability to lead design efforts and mentor team members

Nice to Have

• Experience in an integrator environment supporting automotive OEMs
• Exposure to robotics, simulation tools, or digital validation
• Experience establishing design standards or libraries

Position Summary

The Controls Design Lead is responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of electrical and controls systems for custom automation equipment. This includes full ownership of controls architecture, hardware selection, PLC/HMI development, and system integration across tools and complete production cells.

This role combines technical leadership with hands-on execution, including involvement in quoting, early concept development, and supporting system commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls design activities across automation projects from concept through launch
• Define and standardize controls architecture for:
  • Standalone tooling (geo-fixtures, EOAT, pass tables, etc.)
  • Integrated automation systems and full production cells
• Design and configure electrical systems including:
  • PLC hardware and network architecture
  • I/O systems and field device integration
  • Power distribution and panel layouts
• Develop electrical schematics and documentation (EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar)
• Specify and select controls hardware (PLCs, HMIs, drives, safety systems, sensors, etc.)
• Lead PLC and HMI programming efforts, including:
  • Developing preliminary and production-ready PLC code
  • Establishing program structure and standards
  • Supporting debug and commissioning
• Integrate and support robotic systems (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA) in coordination with robot programmers
• Participate in system bring-up, debug, and launch both in-house and on customer sites
• Support quoting and proposal development for new automation opportunities
  • Define controls scope, architecture, and level of effort
  • Estimate engineering hours for controls design, programming, and commissioning
  • Develop preliminary bill of materials (BOMs) for controls hardware
  • Provide input on technical risk, complexity, and cost drivers

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 8–12+ years of experience in controls design within automation or systems integration
• Proven experience leading controls design for automotive manufacturing systems
• Strong experience with PLC platforms (one or more):
  • Rockwell / Allen-Bradley
  • Siemens, Omron, or others
• Experience with HMI/SCADA systems (FactoryTalk, WinCC, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Electrical design and panel layout
  • I/O systems and industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, etc.)
  • Safety circuits and standards (e.g., safety PLCs, relays)
• Experience supporting robotic integration (FANUC, ABB, KUKA, etc.)
• Ability to develop structured, scalable PLC programs

Nice to Have

• Experience in automotive body-in-white (BIW) or light assembly environments
• Familiarity with OEM standards (Ford, GM, Stellantis)
• Experience with simulation, offline programming, or virtual commissioning
• Background in multi-station or high-throughput automated systems

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and technical Project Manager to lead custom engineering and manufacturing programs from inception through to final delivery. In this role, you will serve as the primary bridge between our clients and our internal teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, and Finance), ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to exact customer specifications.

The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background in automated production systems or manufacturing processes, paired with the exceptional communication and organizational skills required to manage client relationships and project execution.

Responsibilities

• Guide and monitor projects through the design, manufacturing, assembly, tryout, and commissioning phases.
• Schedule and lead design and manufacturing line-up meetings to ensure seamless program launches aligned with purchase order requirements.
• Partner with leadership to assign appropriate personnel across various project phases and collaborate with purchasing to guarantee timely delivery of commercial and internally manufactured components.
• Act as the main liaison for customers and internal teams on all project-related matters, ensuring clear alignment and expectations.
• Arrange, host, and manage customer visits for progress reviews and final project buy-off meetings, utilizing tact and diplomacy.
• Evaluate incoming orders to guarantee complete alignment with customer specifications and approved proposals.
• Track, document, and communicate any shifts impacting scope, pricing, or delivery schedules. Seamlessly communicate order amendments to Proposal, Sales, and Finance teams.
• Develop and monitor project schedules and budgets daily, proactively identify risks or variances and implement swift corrective action plans.
• Manage project invoicing, ensuring accurate and timely billing to customers, and tracking project financials.
• Provide critical technical insights to Proposal and Estimating teams and participate in comprehensive proposal reviews.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in engineering, technical studies, or a related field.
• 2–5+ years of experience in project management within a tooling, automotive manufacturing, or related industry
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a proven track record of leading under pressure.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; highly organized with the ability to balance cost, schedule, and quality expectations collaboratively.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, etc.).
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and cross-border to customer sites for integration and reviews.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence.
• PMP certification is a plus.
